 Church Records

The Redruth Parish of the Church of England and the Methodists have co-operated with the Cornwall Records Office and the Church of the Latter Day Saints (LDS) in order that the parish records and other documents could be photographed and transcribed and made available to the public via the WEB. Each parish has been given a series of Batch Numbers to make searching of these records easier.  Hugh Wallis has created a web site which allows you to click on the number below then type in a name and any records for Redruth will be shown. So far no burials have been transcribed from the registers and any you come across on the LDS site have been submitted by members of the LDS church. We will be concentrating on transcribing the Burial information from photos of the actual registers or from reliable transcripts made by Mr. Thurstan C. Peters which were published in 1894. 

Like all transcriptions you should endeavour to check with the original documents which in the case of Redruth are held at the Cornwall Records Office, Truro, Cornwall.

Protestation Return 1641

All males aged 18 and above were required to pledge their allegiance to the Church of England.  Lists were compiled consisting of the signatures or marks of those who did so, as well as the names of those who refused to sign.

Hearth Tax 1662 - 64

occupiers of houses were taxed 2s on each hearth in the house
